Foreclosures rise in Missouri, fall in Kansas

Missouri saw a 17 percent increase in the number of new foreclosed residential properties in February, and Kansas had a 6 percent decrease, according to a monthly survey Foreclosure.com released Monday.

Missouri had 528 new foreclosures in February 2005, up from 452 in February 2004, the company said in a written release. The state's total residential foreclosed properties available for sale in February reached 2,223, up 34 percent from 1,654 last year.

Kansas had 182 new foreclosed properties in February, down from 194 last year. However, total residential foreclosed properties available for sale in February jumped 54 percent to 942 from 610 last year.

Brad Geisen, president and chief executive of Foreclosure.com, said in a written release that foreclosures nationally have leveled off in the first two months of 2005 after a year of heavy growth in inventory levels.

The company is based in Boca Raton, Fla.
